Week 34: "Come again??" and Spiritual Gifts

Image
August 31st Week 34: "Come again??" and Spiritual Gifts   Well Hello Family!  Transfers!! We will get to the transfer calls later. This week we had our FIRST Sunday service at the chapel! Have you started? It was so nice to meet some of the members face to face and bring some of our friends that we are teaching. It's so crazy to think that 30 people is referred to as a big crowd. Haha, yeah... we don't get out much ; ) Speaking of, online work has been fantastic! We just invited our friend Rodgers from Uganda to be baptised and he said YES!! Then he said "I was wondering when you were going to ask me, what took you so long?" It's amazing how people come alive when they hear the gospel, it makes such a big difference in people's lives. Funny fact. When the connection is really bad in Africa and we can't hear them very well, all we hear from the phone is "Come again". They also say please after everything. Ex "Thank you so so much pl...

Week 30: New Companion, Baptisms, Family, & 6 Months Out!

August 4th 2020 Week 30: New Companion, Baptisms, Family, & 6 Months Out! It's been a LONG time since I posted... sorry. So much has happened, "let me esplain, no there's time, let me sum up."  I have had three visits from family members and 2 packages from home. My uncle Jesse (who is younger than me) came to visit my aunt Esther and uncle Daniel who lives in Liverpool. They came and had lunch with me twice. It was so wonderful to see them. Then my Tanner family, who is currently living in Denmark, came to England and I was able to visit with them as well. It was so rejuvenating to see people that I love so much, pass words of encouragement and love and share our testimonies of this great gospel with each other.  I lost my flat companion Sister Perrin in an emergency transfer. There were tears, but I know we will see each other again since she lives in Idaho. She has taught me so much about how to be a good missionary. Then I lost the other two of our foursome. N...

June 15th 2020 Week 23: English Delicacies and American Disasters "Top of the mornin to ya!" "Jolly good day to ya" and "You alright?" all this you see I hope you all are well and are enjoying your summer so far.  We are still, as of June 15th, under "lock and key" oops sorry lock down. Some shops and some of the bigger stores are opening up and people are now meeting each other in parks and things!! Things are getting better, slowly.  Not much has changed for us missionaries though. We are getting really good at online teaching, let me tell ya.  Wednesday we taught a fabulous Family History 101 class! We had over 30 people attend, 6 of which came from our new Facebook group, Family History in London!!! WOW. So many blessings.  It was incredible to share the importance of family history with so many people. We talked a lot about memories.  Sister Kleinert shared about her great grandfather who lived from both wor...

May 25th 2020 Week 20: Transfers & Training Hey y'all Hope everyone has had a great couple weeks. Life here in London is pretty much the same... except we have transfers this week!!! Wow, time goes by so fast when you are hard at work, having fun and helping others.  Ok, so transfers. Sadly Sister Li, my comp from China, is leaving! We have had so much fun together and I could never thank her enough for how much she has taught me and how patient she is with me. I will miss her but i know she will do so well and bless the lives up in northern London.  I haven't met my new comp yet, her name is Sister Klineart. She is from Germany and loves to cook so that's exciting! I hope she likes sourdough ; )  I will be the senior comp and follow up trainer so everyone pray for me as we both strive to do our best to serve the people in Hyde Park.  This week we taught 3 new people in our area, all from different parts of the world.  Elvis from Africa, Leon from Scotl...

Week 17: Rainbows & Prayers

Image
May 4th 2020 Week 17: Rainbows & Prayers Hello family This week I hit 4 months on the mission! Wow!  In some ways I feel like it's been a life time and in others ways has flown by. I think I've learned more about the gospel these past 4 months than I have throughout my entire life. It's been crazy and I've loved every second! We had some really incredible lessons this week, hearts being softened and allowing the savior to enter. It is such a privilege to share the message of the atonement and then to watch it work in people's lives. There is nothing more powerful or meaningful and I am so grateful that I get to be out here sharing the love! London rain is back!! and this was not just any rain, we got poured on and drenched and to the bone!! But we enjoyed it.  We had a fanatic lesson with Phumlani, my friend from Africa. He was wondering if God really heard his prayers because sometimes he didn't feel like it. He felt like He had gone too far and couldn'...

Week 16: "I bless the rains down in Africa"

April 27th 2020 Week 16: "I bless the rains down in Africa" Hey Fabulous People This week has been so busy! We are teaching more lessons than ever in our area and at the visitor center on our online accounts. We get requests for Bible studies, missionary lessons and copies of the Book of Mormon which has been AWESOME.  Also, as online missionaries we got in touch with the mission president in Liberia who doesn't have any missionaries now because of the COVID. We asked him if we could help him in any way and so now we are teaching 4 wonderful people over the phone!  They don't have access to the internet or the technology needed so they go to the bishop's house for the lessons. They are the most genuine people I have ever met and truly desire to know God.  We've been teaching a family from Africa who are ready to get baptized, and we are helping them get to know the ward. They are the greatest and it's been fun co...
